Job Description
Job Title:
Designer Job Description This position is integral to the substation department, where you will develop construction drawings for substations in collaboration with higher-level designers and engineers. You will be part of a team that supports critical engineering initiatives, advancing how companies serve the world. Responsibilities Create 3-D models of electrical substation features and components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, using MicroStation with the guidance of senior designers. Develop layout of parts and assemblies in both 2-D and 3-D drawings. Modify or update existing models, assemblies, and layouts to reflect changes in design. Adhere to part naming and numbering conventions as well as file management protocols. Create or modify physical drawings, including single-line diagrams, station location plans, electrical assemblies, cable and conduit plans, cable schedules, grounding plans, duct bank designs, and layouts. Ensure drawings provide sufficient detail and information for the construction of electrical substations, with guidance from senior designers and engineers. Utilize ProjectWise for project documentation to track all design modifications and new designs with assistance from senior designers. Work under the supervision of higher-level designers and engineers. Essential Skills Experience in designing physical layouts, equipment layouts, plan views, elevation views, section views, and creating detailed bills of material. Proficiency in 3D design using AutoCAD Inventor. Knowledge in substation, physical, utility, grounding, lightning protection, one-line diagrams, and substation engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience and/or education. Zero to five years of relevant experience in the field. Work Environment The work takes place in a quiet engineering office environment with a business casual dress code. Teamwork is highly encouraged and frequently practiced. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of New Albany, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
