Full Job Description Description:
Join our team where you can put your passion for design and client service to practice! Michaud Cooley Erickson is a full-service engineering firm. We pride ourselves in providing high quality mechanical, electrical, lighting, fire protections, security, technology systems and energy management solutions for clients, as well as unprecedented commissioning to facilitate efficient operations of systems. A Staff role is a designer with a strong foundation of design. This person should be able to take on independent tasks for design up to full design of small projects to be reviewed by others. This person still takes direction for most tasks and works closely with the Project Manager and Lead Designer/Engineer.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Design Performs basic design calculations under the direction of the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and Engineer of Record. Follows processes and design direction established in MCE's master design standards and production standards. Performs basic distribution layout and equipment sizing for commodity items. Completes the floor plan layouts for system distribution. Coordinates space and clearance requirements with other design partners. Completes equipment schedules for commodity items. Produces basic schematic diagrams such as plumbing isometrics and electrical risers. Develops an understanding of specifications and produces project specifications for commodity items. Develops an understanding of applicable codes. Budget Works within the hours budgeted by the project manager. Obtains approval from the project manager prior to using more hours than budgeted on a project. Project Documentation Develops floor plans from the schematic design level to the construction document level. Performs site visits and drafts existing conditions into design software. Develops and understanding of details and schematic diagrams. Maintains a well-organized workspace and electronic filing process.Requirements:
Education and Experience Associate's or Bachelor's electrical degree or a related field from an accredited university or college required. At least 2 years of related building systems design experience.
