Fire Alarm Project Designer Chantilly, VA (Hybrid Position, Flexible Schedule) Contract to
Direct Hire, Full-Time Pay Range:
$50.00 - $70.00per hour W2
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Project Designer to join a growing team focused on delivering high-quality fire alarm and life safety solutions. In this role you will be responsible for designing, engineering, and documenting medium to large scale fire alarm systems with moderate to high levels of complexity. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, technically strong, and thrives in a collaborative environment where precision and accountability are valued. This individual will work closely with project management and sales teams to ensure engineering deliverables align with project scope, budget, and schedule while guiding and mentoring junior drafters on project documentation accuracy. Responsibilities include defining design requirements, reviewing construction drawings, managing scope changes, supporting pre-sales activities, and ensuring all deliverables meet customer and project requirements from concept through completion.
Required Skills:
5-7 years of experience designing enterprise-level fire alarm systems Proficiency in AutoCAD or Fire
CAD NICET
Level III or IV certification required Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and components Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, architectural layouts, and electrical diagrams Proficiency in AutoDesk Design Review and Bluebeam Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure High School diploma or GED required
Bonus/Soft Skills:
Experience supporting pre-sales activities and scope estimation Ability to mentor and guide junior team members on documentation accuracy Strong customer focus with a proactive approach to identifying and meeting client needs Experience monitoring project budgets and identifying scope changes that require clarification Strong organizational skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
