Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Designer to join our growing team. This is an on-site position based in Pittsburgh, PA. Regular in-office attendance is required, and remote work and relocation assistance are not available for this role. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex industrial projects that significantly impact manufacturing and heavy industry sectors. The role involves developing detailed piping and mechanical designs for large-scale industrial facilities, including piping layouts, equipment arrangements, pipe supports, and construction documentation. The Senior Mechanical Designer will work closely with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines while providing technical guidance to other designers and contributing to the development of efficient design standards and workflows. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed piping and mechanical design drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit. Develop piping layouts, general arrangements, equipment layouts, pipe supports, and detailed construction drawings for industrial facilities. Create construction-ready drawings based on P&IDs, flow diagrams, equipment drawings, vendor documentation, and project specifications. Interpret and apply applicable piping codes, standards, specifications, and industry best practices. Collaborate with mechanical and piping engineers to develop accurate and complete design packages. Coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts and ensure projects meet requirements and schedules. Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project requirements. Incorporate engineering markups, client comments, vendor information, and field conditions into design documents. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other mechanical and piping designers. Maintain high-quality drawings with proper organization, revision control, and adherence to company and client standards. Contribute to the development and improvement of Revit templates, families, design standards, and departmental workflows. Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency through 3D modeling, automation, databases, or other technology. Support construction and field activities by responding to design-related questions and helping resolve drawing or installation issues. Qualifications Associate degree or technical degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of piping or mechanical design experience in industrial or heavy industrial environments. Experience in steel, manufacturing, power, or similar industrial facilities preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Revit or other 3D modeling experience strongly preferred. Experience preparing piping and mechanical construction drawings for large-scale industrial facilities. Strong understanding of P&IDs, piping layouts, equipment arrangements, vendor documentation, and construction practices. Working knowledge of applicable piping codes, standards, and industry practices. Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex design assignments and apply sound technical judgment. Experience providing technical guidance or mentoring to other designers preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams. EOE Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
