BHP Engineering & Construction is an engineering consulting firm serving refinery and petrochemical clients across the Texas Gulf Coast. Our work spans I&E design, civil/drainage engineering, surveying, and construction QA/QC for major operators in the region. We are a small, project-driven team where designers work closely with engineers and clients from drafting through field execution.

Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled I&E Designer to produce instrumentation and electrical drawings and deliverables for refinery and petrochemical projects. Working under the direction of project engineers, the designer will develop accurate, code-compliant drawings and support the project team through construction and commissioning. Responsibilities Develop instrumentation and electrical drawings: loop diagrams, wiring and termination details, location plans, conduit and cable tray routing, panel layouts, and electrical one-lines. Produce instrument installation details and hook-up drawings. Mark up and update P&IDs and create instrument index and I/O lists. Develop cable and conduit schedules and bills of material. Incorporate redline markups and as-built revisions. Maintain drawing registers and revision control. Coordinate with engineers and other disciplines to resolve design conflicts. Ensure drawings comply with client specifications and applicable codes (NEC, ISA). Requirements Associate degree in drafting/design technology, or equivalent technical training and experience. 5+ years of I&E design/drafting experience in petrochemical, refinery, or oil & gas. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical; SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) experience a plus. Working knowledge of I&E drawing conventions, instrument specifications, and electrical symbology. Familiarity with NEC and ISA standards. Strong attention to detail and revision-control discipline. Effective communication and teamwork. Ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass client background and drug screening for plant access. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related technical field. Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation, Bentley, or comparable I&E design platforms. Knowledge of power distribution and motor control drawings. Prior work at Gulf Coast refinery or petrochemical facilities.
