Piping Designer About Taurus Industrial Group (Taurus) Taurus is a leading technical services contractor in the energy and industrial sector. With operations spanning the Gulf Coast, Mid-west, Cananda and Mexico, we offer an end-to-end service offering to our customers through Engineering, Infrastructure, Electrical & Instrumentation, Specialty Services divisions. Position Outline Due to the continued growth and expansion of our business, we are seeking qualified candidates for the position of Piping Designer based in our Corpus Christi, Texas office. The Piping Designer will work with our design team in Corpus Christi, Texas office. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Complete Piping Design and Layouts in accordance with Industry Practices using 2D & 3D Software. Design modifications of new and existing process service and utilities. Prepare construction documents including General Arrangements, Piping Isometrics, P&IDs, Piping Plans, Lines Lists, and Tie-In Lists. Initiate conceptual physical design requirements in coordination with appropriate responsible supervisors and engineers. Prepare material takeoffs of partial or complete projects. Prepare field design sketches. Review vendor shop drawings and construction drawings as necessary Provide piping discipline leadership for assigned projects. Provide technical support, clarification and interpretation of task, code and standards requirements for all piping design and drafting activities. Reviews assigned projects discipline deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Client standards. Determine discipline manpower requirements to support project budgets and schedule. Lead team of designers, allocating work duties and monitoring project progress. Performing piping design, including piping system components selection, specification, and detail design. Prepare project scope documents and installation standards. Providing estimates for engineering work. Providing construction support during installation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates local to Corpus Christi strongly preferred. Degree in Piping/Mechanical. 3D modeling experience. Experience developing drawings in AutoCAD. Drafting/Design and related coursework Knowledge of Pipe stress, Pipe support concepts, Pipe fabrication design, and use of Equipment layouts. Working knowledge of pipe, pipe fittings, valves, piping support, insulation, insulation jacketing, and equipment installation Minimum 7 - 12 years Piping Systems related design experience. Project design experience in petrochemical and/or refinery work environment. Team player able to work effectively with other disciplines for successful completion of projects. Excellent written/verbal communication skills are a must. Comfortable with fast-paced work environment. Quick learner. Able to balance priorities and meet deadlines. Take ownership of discipline design and be proactive in problem solving. Safety and detail focused. Strong business acumen and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
