Position Type:
Full Time. Normal Business hours are expected for the first 2-month training program. After completing the training program, the daily schedule is flexible PV Design Team Lead contributes to Ion Solar by becoming the industry leader in terms of design deliverable with top quality and efficiency. PV Design Team Trainer contributes to Ion Solar by creating training material and courses and holding training sessions to build the team into the industry leader in terms of design deliverables with top quality and efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 5-8 PV Designers to successfully excel in high production and quality standards to become the best in the industry. Train and upskill designers in technical subject matter expertise. Coordinate and problem-solve with internal departments and field operations to resolve ongoing and new issues, prioritize assignments, handle project escalations, and maintain project timeline expectations. Responsible for learning and mastering PV Design related subject matter expertise and industry code standards to avoid unnecessary rework, and reduce costs in terms of labor and material for all departments using design deliverables. Work closely with structural engineers and master electricians for accurate and cost-efficient design decisions. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Efficient with construction-related codes and requirements preferred (ie. NEC, IRC, IBC, etc.) Proficiency in drafting related software such as AutoCAD with excellent computer skills Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, engineering, and other operations teams. Ability to work both independently and within a strong cooperative team, in an open office environment. Ability to upskill individuals/teams with continuous coaching and feedback and high accountability in areas of needed improvement for following SOPs and meeting industry competitive performance expectations. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to develop solutions to difficult problems
Education and Experience:
2 Years Minimum PV Design Experience; OR 4-year Engineering type degree; OR Certificate from a Technical College; OR field experience in a relevant trade 1 3 years of management experience required in a related or relevant role. Ability to upskill individuals/team with continuous coaching and feedback and high accountability in areas of needed improvement for following SOPs and meeting industry competitive performance expectations. Proficiency in drafting related software such as AutoCAD Efficient with construction-related codes and requirements. (ie. NEC, IRC, IBC, etc.) Experience with Energy Storage System (battery) design, Ground Mount Design, and/or other custom-made electrical line diagram design preferred but not required.
NABCEP PV
Installation Professional Certification Preferred. Solar experience required
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced, open floor office environment with significant computer usage. Utilization of complex systems. Speed and accuracy are essential to the successful completion of tasks. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. May encounter interruptions throughout the work day.
