PLC Programmer - Allen Bradley, HMI/SCADA, Industrial Automation Richland, WA Full-TimeOn-Site$86,000 - $180,000 /yr Posted July 20, 2026 PLC Programmer Position Overview We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to design, develop, and maintain control logic for industrial automation systems. The successful candidate will primarily work with Allen-Bradley platforms and HMI systems to deliver reliable, safe, and efficient machine and process control solutions. This role involves programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of control systems in manufacturing and industrial environments. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain PLC logic for Allen-Bradley controllers to meet machine and process control requirements. Create, configure, and optimize HMI screens to provide clear operator interfaces and diagnostics. Program and document control sequences, interlocks, and safety logic consistent with industry best practices. Commission and start up equipment at customer sites, perform onsite troubleshooting and tuning of PLC and HMI systems. Develop and maintain clear, version-controlled documentation including ladder/structured text code, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, and functional descriptions. Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers, technicians, and production personnel to ensure integrated solutions and smooth project delivery. Perform testing, simulation, and validation of control logic; implement PID tuning and motion control where required. Support network communications and integration using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) and coordinate with
SCADA/MES
systems. Investigate and resolve control system faults, provide root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, code reviews, and standards development to increase maintainability and safety. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or equivalent experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Proven experience programming PLCs with strong, demonstrable experience on Allen-Bradley platforms (RSLogix/Studio 5000). Hands-on experience designing and configuring HMIs and creating operator-friendly displays. Strong understanding of control system fundamentals including ladder logic, structured text, PID control, and motion control concepts. Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and on-site start-up of industrial automation systems. Familiarity with industrial networking and protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Profibus. Excellent documentation skills and experience with version control for control system code and project deliverables. Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Willingness to travel to customer sites for commissioning and support as required.
