An Electrical Designer designs and creates layout for the electrical systems that power lighting, security, telephone and sound in buildings; creates wiring diagrams, develops specifications for electrical systems to meet code requirements. Designs and create layout of the printed circuit boards that are components of most electronic equipment.
Employee owned and well-established company of over 80 years is seeking a Control Panel Designer for our Muskego facility. We are a single-source fluid power distributor and control systems provider who designs, develops, and tests our systems to meet customer exacting needs and specifications. We are experts in designing systems that make machines and mobile equipment push, pull, lift, and lower. We serve a variety of industries including mining, construction, defense, pulp and paper and railroad maintenance. Job Overview Responsible for quoting projects, designing circuits and creating drawings, along with documenting and supporting electrical control systems for industrial and mobile machinery following the appropriate industry safety and design regulations. The responsibilities include hands-on assembly, testing of control panels, and selecting the various components that go into them, such as HMIs, PLCs, and VFDs. This is a hands-on design role; programming experience is not required. In this role, you will work alongside a team of three degreed engineers who provide day-to-day design guidance and mentorship — an excellent environment for a skilled panel builder looking to sharpen their design skills. Performs calculations to determine power requirements, wire sizing and component selection. Designs electrical control systems and selects appropriate electrical components based on project requirements and ensures compliance with NEC, UL508/698A and
NFPA 70E
standards. Creates and maintains detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layout drawings using AutoCad software. Develops detailed bill of material, work order instructions, test procedures, and related documentation for manufacturing. Accuracy must be ensured in all engineering documents. Coordinates project activity with other departments and provides timely updates to customers and JMG personnel. Assists in developing cost estimates for projects. Provides necessary support to production personnel during the project build and test phase. Works hands-on in the shop to build and wire control panels as needed to help the team meet delivery and revenue targets. Work with customers directly to develop automation and control solutions. Assists in customer presentations, service and technical support, traveling when required. Supports existing equipment designs by identifying areas for improvement and leading changes. Collaborates and works closely with other designers, engineers, and personnel from other departments to develop and maintain JMG design and manufacturing standards. Prepares and maintains design documentation according to

quality management standards. Keeps current with industry developments and new product releases. Develops and maintains positive vendor relationships. Participates in additional activities contributing to the overall goals of the company as the opportunities arise. Skills Proven hands-on experience designing and building electrical control panels for industrial applications. Ability to read and draw electrical circuits and schematics with minimal guidance, and to carry a design through to completion with minimal supervision. Hands-on ability to build, wire, and test control panels, with a solid working knowledge of the components that go into them. Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic components and their function in a circuit Proficiency in drafting software (AutoCAD). Strong mechanical aptitude and technical comprehension Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (e.g., UL 508A, CE). Experience with automation system sensors and safety systems Experience with industrial fieldbus communication protocols Experience with typical electrical lab equipment (multimeters, power meters, frequency analyzer) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Preferred (nice to have): Familiarity with hydraulic systems and their interaction with electrical controls. Familiarity with control-system communication (e.g., Ethernet/IP) between PLCs, HMIs, and other devices. Programming experience is not required for this role. Experience working in an

Education/Experience:
Hands-on experience building electrical control panels is the primary requirement for this role, and we consider several equivalent paths to it: Two or more years of related hands-on control-panel experience, with or without a formal degree. An associate's (two-year) degree in an electrical or industrial field, plus approximately one year of related experience. A bachelor's (four-year) degree in electrical engineering or a related field — capable entry-level candidates with little or no experience are encouraged to apply.
