(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. General Atomics Survivability group has an exciting position available for a Survivability Rollup Engineer to support the design and development of advanced materials to support a variety of platforms.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineer will be part of the GA-ASI Survivability Engineering team, working with numerous functional groups supporting design and validation of new aircraft Understand dB rollup and budget tree structures. Be able to communicate visually and verbally how various sources compile into component and vehicle level performance. Support determination of RCS allocations for numerous features and components and work with various functional teams to determine how those allocations will be determined. Required to utilize a combination of 3rd party software applications and organically developed software tools along with demonstrated experience with MATLAB and all Microsoft products to manipulate data and report output. Own rollup database of all scattering sources and continue to update models based on availability of new measurement/test results or evolution of analytical predictions provided by Engineering. Implement tools and processes to track changes in air vehicle system performance over time and to report status of results against established system requirements. Brief internal leadership and external customers on overall system performance and the impacts of various features/components. Lead identification of areas for improving signature based on comparison of bottoms up rollup vs. budget allocation. Demonstrate significant skills in both data and configuration management. Be able to track multiple configuration changes, be able to quickly and accurately show the impacts of those changes and enable decisions based on output of the rollup tool. Job Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Experience in tracking and managing large data sets. Strong written and oral communications skills. Strong team player with leadership potential qualities. The successful candidate will work under general supervision, following established procedures. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Top Secret clearance Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice in a relevant industry and product. Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles. Experience developing and fabricating composite structures with an emphasis on low observable materials and structures. Demonstrated experience integrating LO compatible systems into aircraft platforms. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is Required.
