This role bridges product development and manufacturing readiness by partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Document Control teams to validate manufacturability, resolve build issues, and prepare products for pilot and volume production. Responsibilities include leading first-article, prototype, and pilot builds; interpreting engineering documentation to execute builds accurately; identifying assembly, tooling, or process gaps; and providing structured feedback to improve design for manufacturability (DFM). The NPI Master Technician develops, reviews, and maintains build documentation such as work instructions, travelers, and assembly guides; supports ECO implementation during NPI; and trains production teams as part of the transition to manufacturing. This role operates with high autonomy, mentors junior technicians, and ensures NPI builds meet quality, safety, and ESD standards while maintaining schedule and readiness objectives. Required Qualifications Associate's degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field or equivalent extensive hands-on experience 8-10+ years of experience as an electronics or manufacturing technician, including significant involvement in NPI, prototype, or pilot builds Advanced hands-on skills in PCB assembly, soldering (through-hole and SMT), rework, and system integration Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, work instructions, and engineering change orders (ECOs) Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and assembly processes Experience developing or refining build documentation, travelers, and work instructions Strong documentation and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet aggressive NPI timelines Commitment to quality, safety, ESD, and manufacturing best practices Preferred Qualifications IPC soldering certification or willingness to obtain Experience supporting semiconductor, electronics, or capital equipment NPI Familiarity with document control practices, revision control, and PLM/DMS systems Experience training production teams during NPI-to-manufacturing handoff Exposure to continuous improvement, DFM feedback, or process optimization initiatives Experience using ERP systems to track builds, parts, or documentation
