Summary This vacancy is for a Electronics Engineer position within the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA), Strategic Trade (ST), Office of National Security Controls, (ONSC), Maritime, Missile, and Aerospace Division (MMAD). GS-11 Pay Range

- EDUCATION A.
Degree:
Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)1 , or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. 3. Specified academic courses

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
To qualify at the GS-11 level , you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 in the Federal Service or its non-Federal equivalent performing the following: Assisting with the review of any of the following: electronics, photonics, laser systems, electro-optic systems, lidars, and high-power sensors by helping check technical specifications (e.g., beam quality, power output, spectral range, or resolution) to support determinations of compliance with export control or regulatory requirements; and Assisting with export control and regulatory tasks by reviewing any of the following: Commerce Control List (CCL) entries, export license materials, or other technical documents, and analyzing data from open-source or licensing records to support technical analyses, documentation, and briefings used in licensing or compliance processes.Education Substitution:
Applicants may qualify with 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. To qualify at the GS-12 level , you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal Service or its non-Federal equivalent performing the following: Performing evaluations of any of the following: electronics, photonics, laser systems, electro-optic systems, lidars, and high-power sensors by reviewing technical specifications (e.g., beam quality, power output, spectral range, or resolution) to support determinations of compliance with export control or regulatory requirements; and Coordinating export control and regulatory tasks by reviewing any of the following: Commerce Control List (CCL) entries, export license materials, or other technical documents, and analyzing data from open-source or licensing records to support technical analyses, prepare documentation, and inform licensing or compliance decisions; and Preparing written technical summaries, analyses, or briefing materials, and communicating findings to internal stakeholders or interagency groups to support decision-making related to export licensing or technology control issues.
