Oversees engineering design, construction and installion activities. Prioritizes and outlines work. Provides advice to solve technical problems. Reviews work of other engineers for technical accuracy and adequacy. Assists Center personnel with revolving, unique and challenging engineering problems. Leads the development of standardized implemention plans, processes, temples, and activities when assigned Engineering Center and/or program area. Works as a team with other LEs to deliver a consistent and efficient implemention product across each Service Area. Maintains consistency with applicable standards, procedures, and implemention methodologies. Serves as a key engineering point of contact for assigned projects/programs to all stakeholders including management, other employees and external parties. Provides constructive feedback and persuasion on project/program mters using effective interpersonal skills and abilities. Organizes, coordines and mentors the efforts of project engineers supporting the program. Ensures project/program schedules are compible with organizional objectives, support project/program needs, and can be accomplished within available resources and funding. Oversees and monitors project interdependencies by assessing the impacts to projects/programs due to new requirements, technologies, budget constraints or changes. Degree:
Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with least one curriculum accredited by the Accredition Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; OR (2) include differential AND integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics & chemistry) in FIVE of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) stics, dynamics; (b) strength of merials (stress-strain relionships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nure & properties of merials (reling particle and aggrege structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, he transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.   • College-level educion, training, and/or technical experience th furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical & mhemical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applicions to one of the branches of engineering.
The adequacy of such background must be demonstred by one of the following: 1) Professional Registrion
  • Current registrion as a professional engineer by any Ste, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. 2) Written Test
  • Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examinion, or the written test required for the professional registrion which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various Stes, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. 3) Specified Academic Courses
  • Successful completion of least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mhemical, and engineering sciences and in engineering th included the courses specified in the basic requirements. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum as described in paragraph "A" above. 4) Reled Curriculum
  • Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an approprie professional field, e.
g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mhemics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g. in interdisciplinary positions.
