Job Description

Baker Audio Visual is a leader in providing cutting-edge audiovisual solutions for commercial and industrial projects. Role Description The Field Engineer is responsible for commissioning, configuring, and validating integrated audiovisual systems installed by Baker Audio Visual. This role collaborates closely with engineering, programming, project management, and field technicians to ensure systems are installed according to design specifications and operate reliably prior to client acceptance. The Field Engineer will support multiple projects simultaneously and ensure audiovisual systems meet Baker Audio Visual quality standards across corporate, education, government, healthcare, and worship environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform complete audiovisual system commissioning including device configuration, signal verification, and system performance validation. Configure and tune digital signal processing (DSP) platforms including Q‑SYS, Biamp Tesira, and similar systems. Configure and commission collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex, and Poly video conferencing systems. Commission AV‑over‑IP environments including Dante, AES67, NVX, NDI, and other networked AV technologies. Configure video switching, distribution, and display systems. Coordinate with programmers to verify control system functionality and user interface operation. Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization. Assist field technicians during system installation and resolve technical integration issues. Verify installation quality and ensure system installation meets engineering design standards. Document final system configurations, device settings, and commissioning results. Update as‑built documentation when required and ensure final system documentation is archived according to Baker Audio Visual standards. Participate in internal quality control processes to ensure systems meet company commissioning standards.
Qualifications Experience:
Experience commissioning AV systems in conference rooms, training rooms, boardrooms, auditoriums, and collaboration environments. Strong understanding of low‑voltage systems including audio, video, networking, control, and lighting integration. Experience configuring DSP platforms, conferencing systems, and AV control equipment. Ability to troubleshoot complex integrated AV systems including control systems, DSP platforms, and networked AV devices. Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain system functionality to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, project management, and operations teams. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, AV Technology, or related field OR 5+ years of audiovisual integration, installation, or commissioning experience.
Technical Skills:
DSP configuration software (Q‑SYS Designer, Biamp Tesira, or similar) AV control system configuration tools AutoCAD (for basic as‑built updates) Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Certifications & Training (Preferred): AVIXA CTS or CTS‑I Q‑SYS Level 1 or Level 2 Certification Crestron DigitalMedia Certification Biamp Tesira Certification Extron AV Associate CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, bend, and reach with hands and arms Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, or scaffolding when required Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to project sites when needed
