Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated Field Follow Engineer to serve as the critical link between customers and engineering teams for advanced camera-based collision detection systems used in off-highway and heavy equipment applications. This role combines hands-on field investigation, customer engagement, and engineering problem-solving. The Field Follow Engineer will work directly with customers to identify, document, and troubleshoot system performance issues, including false-positive alerts, missed detections, environmental impacts, operator concerns, and software or hardware-related errors. The successful candidate will translate real-world customer feedback into actionable engineering requirements and support continuous product improvement efforts. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong engineering background who also possess practical field experience, agricultural knowledge, equipment operation experience, or a background as a technician or mechanic. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and engineering teams. Travel to customer locations to observe equipment operation and investigate reported collision detection system issues. Gather, document, and analyze field data related to system performance, including: False positive detection events Missed object detections Camera visibility concerns Environmental and operating condition impacts Software and hardware fault conditions Operator feedback and usability concerns Work closely with machine operators, fleet managers, dealers, and customer technical personnel to understand real-world challenges. Conduct field inspections, troubleshooting activities, and root cause investigations. Capture detailed issue reports, logs, photos, videos, and operational observations for engineering review. Coordinate with software, systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to communicate field findings and support corrective actions. Validate engineering solutions and corrective actions in customer environments. Support product verification activities, system evaluations, and pilot deployments. Track issue resolution status and provide updates to both customers and internal stakeholders. Assist in developing best practices, troubleshooting guides, and field support documentation. Prepare technical reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and lessons learned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field. Minimum of 3 years of engineering, product support, field follow, validation, service engineering, or technical troubleshooting experience. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong customer-facing skills and professional presence. Ability to work independently in field environments. Willingness to travel approximately 50% of working time.
External Skills And Expertise:
Previous experience in: Field Follow Engineering Product Validation Service Engineering Agricultural Equipment Support Construction Equipment Support Vehicle Testing Customer Product Support Background operating, maintaining, or repairing heavy equipment. Farming, agricultural operations, or equipment dealership experience. Prior experience as a mechanic, technician, service technician, or field service representative. Familiarity with camera systems, sensor technology, machine vision, ADAS, collision avoidance, autonomy, or safety systems. Experience working directly with OEM customers and engineering organizations. Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and job site environments.
