Job Description

Field Service Engineer / Biomedical Equipment Technician Position Summary TSE Systems is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Engineer / Biomedical Equipment Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sophisticated research and laboratory equipment throughout the United States and Canada. This position is ideal for candidates with strong mechanical, electrical, electronic, or biomedical technical skills who enjoy problem-solving, working independently in the field, and collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver exceptional service. The successful candidate will be comfortable working hands-on with complex equipment, software, and instrumentation while providing outstanding customer support. This role requires frequent travel and offers the opportunity to work with leading research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, universities, and government laboratories. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and document issues involving complex laboratory and biomedical equipment. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service activities on customer equipment. Install, configure, test, and commission new systems at customer sites. Conduct mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software-related troubleshooting. Perform routine system validation, performance testing, and operational verification. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and customer documentation. Provide on-site customer training for both hardware and software systems. Deliver remote technical support using Zoom, TeamViewer, and other remote diagnostic tools. Manage assigned inventory of service parts, tools, and test equipment. Collaborate closely with engineering, technical support, sales, and customer personnel to resolve technical issues efficiently. Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and exceptional service. Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements and enhanced customer support. Travel throughout the United States and Canada (approximately 50-75%), typically for periods of 1-5 days. Required Qualifications Associate's degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent experience in: Biomedical Technology Electronics Technology Electrical Engineering Technology Mechanical Engineering Technology Mechatronics Industrial Maintenance Related technical disciplines Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills. Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems, including wiring, sensors, power supplies, and instrumentation. Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, and maintain technical equipment. Experience using hand tools, test equipment, and diagnostic tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills while also being capable of working independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and common software applications. Valid and unrestricted driver's license. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in laboratory, research, and industrial environments. Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years of experience in field service, biomedical equipment repair, instrumentation, electronics, maintenance, engineering support, laboratory equipment service, or related technical roles. Candidate resides near a major airport preferably west coast or east coast Experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, electromechanical, or automated systems. Familiarity with biomedical, laboratory, pharmaceutical, research, or healthcare environments. Experience providing direct customer support in a technical service capacity. Knowledge of networking, software installation, and remote diagnostic tools. Previous experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Military technical experience is highly valued. $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
