Engineering Technician Electronics & Electro-Mechanical Systems Bloomington, MN Pay Estimated:
$26.41 - $31.41/Hour U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law We are seeking an Engineering Technician to support the design, testing, troubleshooting, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of electronic and electro-mechanical systems. This role supports advanced engineering and laboratory operations involving prototype development, test equipment, calibration, diagnostics, electronics repair, and system integration in a high-technology environment supporting innovative and mission-critical programs.
Responsibilities:
Support engineering activities including design, testing, check-out, modification, fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of electronic and electro-mechanical systems. Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electronic devices, assemblies, subsystems, and integrated systems. Construct, calibrate, align, adjust, diagnose, and maintain laboratory equipment, test equipment, components, and engineering systems. Support prototype development activities involving electro-mechanical assemblies, experimental circuitry, laser and light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment. Perform calibration and alignment checks to ensure equipment accuracy and performance. Prepare prescribed compounds, materials, and solutions used in laboratory and engineering processes. Construct, modify, debug, test, and adjust tools, fixtures, and equipment using engineering drawings, technical instructions, and specifications. Assist with fabrication of simple hardware and tooling required to support engineering projects. Conduct experiments, collect test data, and document results under the guidance of senior engineering personnel. Organize and analyze data to identify root causes, determine cause-and-effect relationships, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements. Implement practical solutions that improve processes, equipment performance, and operational efficiency. Construct basic tooling and fixtures to support unique engineering and testing requirements. Maintain accurate technical documentation, test records, and laboratory reports. Collaborate with engineering teams to support product development, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience supporting engineering, laboratory, electronics, or electro-mechanical systems activities. Fundamental knowledge of electronic and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems. Experience using common electronic test equipment including Digital Multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, and advanced diagnostic equipment. Ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies and systems to the component level. Experience performing calibration, alignment, testing, diagnostics, and repair of technical equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, schematics, and assembly instructions. Proficiency with computer systems, software applications, and electronic test equipment. Ability to fabricate simple hardware, fixtures, and tooling as required. Strong technical documentation and data collection skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate of Applied Science (AAS/AA) degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. Military electronics, avionics, communications, or technical maintenance experience. Experience supporting engineering laboratories, prototype development, or research and development environments. FCC First Class License. Solder Repair Certification or equivalent electronics assembly certification. Experience working with laser systems, optical devices, specialized test equipment, or electro-mechanical assemblies.
