  • $75K Base Salary (based on experience) About the Role SolarTrak a division of Solar Technology, Inc.
is seeking a Field Technical Specialist to support the deployment, installation, and ongoing success of its SolarTrak telematics platform. This is a hands-on, field-oriented role responsible for ensuring SolarTrak devices are properly installed, configured, and performing as expected in real-world environments. The position plays a critical role in bridging product, sales, and customer success by supporting customers directly in the field and ensuring a high-quality post-sale experience. SolarTrak delivers GPS-based tracking and fleet intelligence solutions that allow customers to track, monitor, and manage assets through a cloud-based platform. Proper installation and configuration are essential to system performance, making this role a key driver of customer satisfaction and long-term retention. This role also plays an important part in building strong customer relationships by serving as a trusted, on-site technical resource and ensuring a positive customer experience throughout deployment and onboarding. Field Installation & Deployment Travel to customer sites to perform and support installation of SolarTrak devices (ST-5000, BT-5000, VT-4000, CT-4100, and future MegaTrak solutions) Ensure proper installation of hardware, including power connections, mounting, and antenna placement Validate system performance post-install (GPS connectivity, cellular communication, data reporting) Train customers on installation best practices and system setup Technical Troubleshooting & Support Diagnose and resolve field issues related to hardware, connectivity, and system performance Serve as escalation support for customer service and internal teams Identify recurring issues and provide structured feedback to engineering Customer Onboarding & Enablement Support new customer onboarding to ensure successful deployment and adoption Assist with product demonstrations and training (in-person or remote) Help customers understand platform features, alerts, and reporting capabilities Sales & Internal Support Support Sales during late-stage opportunities requiring technical validation Assist with pilot programs and new product rollouts (e.g., MegaTrak deployments) Document installation standards, troubleshooting guides, and best practices Contribute to scalable processes that improve efficiency across teams. Build strong working relationships with customers through consistent, professional on-site support Act as a trusted technical resource during and after deployment Reinforce customer confidence in SolarTrak through responsiveness, reliability, and clear communication What We're Looking For Core Experience
  • 2+ years in a technical, mechanical, or field-based role (installation, service, automotive, construction equipment, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience working with tools, equipment, or basic electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical concepts in a real-world environment Technical Capability
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically with guidance and training
  • Comfortable working with both physical equipment and software platforms Operating Style
  • Strong problem-solving mindset; willing to work through issues in the field
  • Coachable and able to quickly absorb new technical information
  • Comfortable working independently at customer sites after initial training
  • Strong relationship-building skills; able to establish trust and credibility with customers
  • Professional and confident interacting with customers
  • Willing and able to travel frequently (50-70%) Preferred
  • Experience with telematics, IoT, or fleet tracking systems
  • Familiarity with vehicle systems (OBD-II, J1939 diagnostics)
  • Experience in construction, rental, or fleet-based industries Success Metrics (First 12 Months) Successful installation and deployment of customer systems with minimal rework Reduction in support issues related to installation errors Improved customer onboarding experience and time-to-value Positive customer feedback on field support interactions Effective support of pilot programs and new product rollouts Compensation Structure Base salary range: $55,000•$75,000, based on experience and technical capability Flexibility to adjust for candidates with strong relevant experience Travel-related expenses covered (vehicle/reimbursement, lodging, per diem as applicable) Why This Role Matters As SolarTrak expands into more advanced telematics capabilities, including diagnostics, security, and integrated systems, successful field deployment becomes increasingly critical.
