Energy Storage Commissioning Lead

About the Role We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Commissioning Manager to play a vital role in the testing, performance validation, and startup of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar-coupled power systems. In this role, you will ensure compliance, provide status reports, and uphold the highest safety standards during the commissioning and testing phases. Your expertise in DC and AC systems, coupled with your strong communication skills, will be crucial in driving the successful integration of these advanced energy solutions. Responsibilities Oversee and manage commissioning and performance testing activities conducted by contractors and vendors. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits. Collaborate with the SCADA team to support functional checks and resolve any issues. Develop and maintain a detailed commissioning schedule based on mechanical completion milestones. Execute site acceptance testing, ensuring all systems meet required specifications. Analyze performance data to identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions. Support testing activities, including PPA, GIA, and ISO testing, coordinating with customers and relevant parties. Qualifications Required Skills Extensive experience in the installation and startup of Battery Energy Storage Systems. Comprehensive understanding of Li-Ion battery technology, performance, and integration within ESS. Proficiency in DC (0-2,000Vdc) and AC (480V-34.5kV) systems. Familiarity with containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, and combiners. Strong organizational skills and the ability to strategize and manage schedules effectively. Preferred Skills Engineering background with experience in power systems construction and startup (min 100MW-hr or 5 EA energy storage systems). Experience with SCADA systems, including troubleshooting and functional checks. Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for reporting and communication.
