This office-based position is ideal for a HERS Rater who enjoys the technical side of high-performance building design. The role focuses on HERS energy modeling, design reviews, and helping project teams achieve energy efficiency and green building certification goals before construction begins. Working closely with architects, developers, and internal technical staff, you'll play a key role in shaping high-performing multifamily buildings while collaborating on innovative projects and advancing your career in green building consulting. Key Responsibilities Perform HERS energy modeling for multifamily residential buildings. Conduct design reviews to evaluate building plans for compliance with
HERS, ENERGY STAR, LEED
for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House, and other green building program requirements. Collaborate with architects, developers, and project teams to optimize building performance during the design phase. Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve energy efficiency and help projects achieve certification goals. Review architectural and mechanical plans, specifications, and energy modeling results for accuracy and compliance. Prepare technical documentation and certification reports. Stay current with HERS standards, energy codes, and green building certification requirements. Certified HERS Rater required. Experience performing HERS energy modeling. Strong understanding of building science and residential construction. Knowledge of green building programs such as
ENERGY STAR, LEED
for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and Passive House. Ability to review construction drawings and identify opportunities to improve building performance. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with REM/Rate, Ekotrope, or similar energy modeling software preferred.
