Job Title:
Data Center Energy Marshal Job Description The Controlling Energy Marshal plays a crucial role in ensuring that vendors and contractors adhere to Energy Isolation and Electrical Safety Programs, meeting or exceeding company safety policy requirements. This quality assurance role supports field execution and maintains consistency in energy isolation and electrical safety programs. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with Energy Isolation Management for construction and commissioning efforts. Implement learning and drive rigor into energy isolation and electrical safety programs. Oversee and assure compliance with the overall Energy Isolation Program Management on a datacenter construction campus. Practice and promote a culture of safety collaboration and leadership. Support PSA Professional Safety Advisor and participate in monthly performance reports of contractors, trade partners, and vendors. Provide incident response and escalation support, including on-call availability in emergencies. Participate in weekly safety and incident review meetings. Attend daily and weekly High Risk Activity/Job Hazard Analysis meetings. Identify early warning signs of construction mechanical and electrical risks and issues. Monitor and manage the General Contractor in line with health and safety standards. Serve as an independent authority for stopping unsafe work practices. Work with safety representatives to ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations. Review and understand project schedule and collaborate on MEP related schedule items. Liaise with the Professional Team regarding time/scope impacts assessments. Participate in identification and execution of recovery against critical path works. Oversee critical electrical switching/commissioning milestones. Ensure vendors and contractors meet safety policy requirements for Energy Isolation Program. Utilize SPS-101 Energy Isolation and SPS-102 Electrical Safety guidelines. Establish and manage an Energy Isolation assurance process. Work with Authorizing Energy Marshal to establish an Energy Isolation Permit process. Ensure the approval process for Energy Isolation procedures is in place. Provide technical training to personnel as necessary. Monitor site works and report non-conforming work. Manage preparation of system start-up books and Operations and Maintenance Manuals. Promote a team approach to punch-list development. Inform and monitor compliance to DC Operations/Security Operations processes. Manage regular site Mechanical and Electrical quality audits. Review and approve Equipment Commissioning Scripts. Ensure Sources of Work (SoWs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) are reviewed. Establish qualifications, training, and PPE verification process for personnel. Delegate qualified alternates during multi-shift and peak energization time frames. Act as subject matter expert in Energy Isolation incident investigations. Review and collaborate on MEP cost-related items. Support change management process and clarify scope justification. Support sustainability process development and improvement. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience in construction management, energy isolation, and electrical safety. OSHA 30 Hour Training. NFPA 70e orNFPA CESCP
Certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in DC construction and commissioning standards. Proven ability to interact with teams and implement improvements. Effective communication of complex technical solutions. Audit and promote safe site practices against written standards. Knowledge of construction techniques and documentation. Familiarity with multiple sources of energy and equipment in datacenters, especially electrical. Work Environment The role requires 100% onsite presence at the campus. The Energy Marshal is expected to start the workday at around 7 am. The project is a ground-up initiative, ensuring a dynamic and collaborative work environment focused on safety and compliance. #sfo26 Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Ellendale, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $71.00 - $81.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
