An Energy Analyst or Auditor inspects homes or commercial facilities and advises customers on how to improve energy efficiency and save on energy costs. Researches energy use on a larger scale, monitors costs, demand and supplies and distribution of different energy sources such as gas or oil.
ttinger Engineering Associates (EEA) is a multidisciplinary MEP/FP, Civil, Low Voltage, Commissioning and Sustainability consulting engineering firm based in New York City. Since 1960, EEA has worked with developers, architects, institutions and public agencies on residential, commercial, mixed-use, institutional and affordable-housing projects. We are expanding our Building Energy Modeling / Sustainability team and expect to hire up to two candidates . We are intentionally considering a broad experience range. This opportunity may be a fit for either: An exceptional recent graduate or junior engineer with strong mechanical/building-science fundamentals who wants to build a career in energy modeling; or An experienced Energy Modeler / Building Performance Analyst who can independently develop models, troubleshoot results and take meaningful ownership of project work. What You'll Do Working directly with experienced senior energy-modeling staff, you will support and progressively take ownership of building-performance analysis for real-world design and construction projects.
Responsibilities may include:
Develop and maintain whole-building energy models for residential, commercial and institutional buildings. Build proposed and baseline models for energy-code compliance and performance analysis. Perform modeling and calculations associated with

Appendix G , energy codes, LEED, ENERGY STAR, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House and other high-performance building programs. Review architectural and MEP construction documents and translate building information into accurate model inputs. Model building envelope assemblies, HVAC systems, ventilation, domestic hot water, lighting, plug loads, schedules and controls. Evaluate energy-efficiency measures and quantify energy, cost and carbon impacts. Perform Excel-based energy calculations and supporting engineering analyses. Assist with model QA/QC, troubleshooting and sensitivity analysis. Prepare energy-modeling reports, forms, calculations and documentation for agency, certification and project-team submissions. Respond to energy-model review comments and revise models and documentation accordingly. Coordinate with mechanical engineers, sustainability consultants, architects and other project-team members. Qualifications — Entry / Junior Candidates We will consider candidates with approximately 0-2 years of professional experience where they demonstrate strong technical ability and genuine interest in building energy modeling.
Ideal junior candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree completed or nearing completion in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, Energy Engineering or a closely related technical field. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, HVAC fundamentals, heat transfer and building systems. Strong analytical and quantitative ability. Ability to read architectural and/or MEP drawings. Energy-modeling coursework, academic projects, internships or independent modeling experience strongly preferred. Revit and/or AutoCAD familiarity is a plus. A demonstrated ability to learn technical software quickly and independently. Qualifications — Experienced Candidates For candidates seeking consideration at the Energy Modeler / mid-level range: Approximately 2-5+ years of hands-on building energy-modeling experience preferred. Demonstrated experience developing complete building energy models rather than simply assisting with data entry. Strong experience with eQUEST/DOE-2, EnergyPlus/OpenStudio, or comparable whole-building simulation software . Experience with

Appendix G and/or energy-code compliance modeling strongly preferred. Experience with HVAC systems and MEP engineering is a significant plus. Ability to diagnose unusual model results, identify incorrect assumptions and independently move work toward completion.
