Job Description

The Global Utilities Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and continuous utility and energy data processing that supports billing, reporting, and operational decision making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, understands utility or energy workflows, and wants to play a meaningful role in ensuring accuracy, continuity, and scalability in a growing environment. This position is responsible for managing utility invoice approvals, energy data publication (including PUE), expense allocations, and direct support of downstream billing processes. The role partners closely with Revenue Accounting, Operations, Sustainability, and Facilities teams to maintain data integrity, operational continuity, and revenue accuracy.
Essential Functions:
Review, validate, and approve utility invoices to support accurate and timely billing. Perform detailed reconciliations between utility provider usage, site‑level usage, and sub‑metered equipment data to ensure data integrity and billing accuracy. Prepare and maintain utility expense splits and support schedules used in customer billing and internal reporting. Support billing calculator preparation and provide accurate utility and energy inputs to Revenue Accounting teams. Perform or QA/QC facility usage reporting and customer usage calculations prior to billing. Generate and analyze variance reports related to customer utilization, billing inputs, and invoicing outputs; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Publish energy and utility data, including Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), to internal dashboards and management reports. Benchmark data center power usage and analyzing energy anomalies to identify risks, root causes, and remediation opportunities. Prepare weekly and monthly reporting for management highlighting performance trends, risks, remediation status, and key initiatives. Act as primary control owner for energy‑related billing data, supporting internal controls, management review, and audit requests. Maintain documentation and evidence to support SOX and audit requirements. Partner cross‑functionally with Facilities, Operations, Sustainability, Construction, Finance, Power Billing, and IT to resolve energy‑related data issues. Identify, document, and implement process and system improvements to strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and reduce operational risk. Support continuity and redundancy within the energy billing process to reduce single‑point‑of‑failure risk and ensure uninterrupted billing operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field. 2-4+ years of experience in energy management, utilities, accounting operations, or a related analytical role. Strong understanding of utility billing structures, rate methodologies, metering concepts, and invoice validation processes. Experience working with large datasets, dashboards, and recurring operational workflows. High attention to detail with the ability to manage continuous, deadline‑driven processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. Hybrid Schedule - 3 days in office at CyrusOne Headquarters in Dallas TX.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting metered power or utility‑based billing environments (e.g., data centers, colocation, utilities). Familiarity with PUE calculations, energy efficiency metrics, and data center energy operations. Experience with DCIM or UEM systems (e.g., NEO, Foreseer, Nlyte). Exposure to audit, SOX, or internal control environments. Experience partnering with Revenue Accounting or Billing teams. #LI-BV1 #LI-Hybrid CyrusOne is an equal opportunity employer.
