Full-Time / Part-Time About the Role Our client is seeking a qualified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater / Rating Field Inspector (RFI) to conduct residential energy assessments, perform diagnostic testing, and support energy-efficiency and building-code compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience with residential building science, energy efficiency assessments, diagnostic testing, and HERS rating procedures. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive energy audits and assessments of residential buildings. Perform diagnostic testing, including blower door and duct leakage testing. Evaluate building components and systems to identify energy-efficiency opportunities. Analyze energy performance data and prepare detailed reports. Perform HERS ratings and related field inspections. Work with builders, homeowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to support energy-code compliance. Review building plans and assess energy-efficiency measures as required. Maintain accurate documentation and inspection records. Stay current with applicable building codes, energy-efficiency standards, and industry best practices. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and project stakeholders. Qualifications Current RESNET-certified HERS Rater / Rating Field Inspector (RFI) credential. Experience conducting residential energy assessments and inspections. Knowledge of residential building science and energy-efficiency principles. Experience using diagnostic equipment such as blower doors and duct testing equipment. Familiarity with HERS rating software and energy modeling tools. Knowledge of applicable residential building codes and energy-efficiency standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and effectively in the field. Ability to interact professionally with builders, homeowners, contractors, and other stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience with residential construction or building performance. Experience with energy-code compliance and new construction. Additional certifications related to energy auditing, building performance, or sustainability. Experience with RESNET standards and procedures. Work Environment Combination of residential job-site/field work and administrative or reporting activities. Requires travel to residential properties and construction sites within the assigned service area. May involve working in unfinished buildings, attics, crawl spaces, and other residential construction environments.
