RECRUITMENT DESCRIPTION
Will provide basic administrative and technical support to Engineering staff to ensure that community improvement projects are performed accurately, safely, and efficiently. Perform various tasks related to the City's engineering division. This position is intended to supplement a formal education path in engineering and/or construction. Work will be performed under the direction of the assigned Engineer in the respective division (Gas, Light, Public Works Engineering). Positions will begin in June and will last approximately until the middle of September. There is one vacancy in the Gas division, one vacancy in the Light division, and potentially one vacancy in the Engineering divsion of Public Works. These are temporary positions scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. They are non-benefited positions except for earning paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour for every paid forty (40) hours worked. Employees are eligible to begin using accrued paid sick leave on the ninetieth (90th) calendar day after the commencement of his/her employment.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
EDUCATION
Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Construction Management curriculum designed to lead to an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field OR A recent graduate (within the last six (6 months) in Engineering or Construction Management looking for on-the-job training/experience related to their field of study.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license by the date of hire; must maintain an insurable driving record.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Experience with Microsoft 365, AutoCAD and ArcGIS is preferred.
