Full-Time About the Company We operate multiple U.S.-based manufacturing facilities across consumer product categories including: Printing, coating, lamination, slitting, rewinding Coating and continuous oven processing We are seeking a senior-level manufacturing engineering leader to professionalize, standardize, and future-proof our industrial assets. Role Summary Manufacturing Engineering & Reliability will own the technical health, capability, modernization, and long-term asset strategy of all manufacturing equipment across the organization.
This leader will:
Assess current equipment capability and risk Design and implement a preventive & predictive maintenance program Build a multi-year capital modernization roadmap Reduce downtime, scrap Standardize engineering and maintenance practices across facilities Transition the organization from reactive repairs to proactive asset management This is a foundational role with direct executive visibility and material financial impact. Key Responsibilities 1. Enterprise Asset Audit & Capability Assessment Conduct full inventory of all production equipment across facilities Document OEMs, age, controls, drive systems, PLCs, spare part exposure Assess remaining useful life and modernization needs Identify single-point-of-failure risks Establish baseline uptime, MTBF, and downtime cost
Deliverable:
5-10 year Asset & Capital Strategy Plan. 2. Reliability & Maintenance System Implementation Design and implement enterprise-wide preventive maintenance program Standardize maintenance procedures and documentation Develop spare parts standardization and critical spares strategy Implement reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, downtime %, cost per hour)
Goal:
Transition from reactive "repair-based" culture to structured reliability engineering. 3. Technical Oversight of Production Lines Web handling & tension systems Coating stations Lamination systems Slitting/rewinding automation Labeling integration Drive systems & PLC modernization Compound & Continuous Oven Systems Compound application control Thickness control systems Continuous oven temperature management Energy efficiency optimization Fire & safety systems Automation upgrades 4. Modernization & Automation Strategy Identify ROI-positive automation opportunities Evaluate drive & PLC obsolescence Lead vendor selection and engineering partnerships Scope capital projects and oversee implementation Improve yield, reduce scrap, increase throughput 5. Safety & Risk Management Assess fire, electrical, and mechanical safety risks Ensure industrial compliance standards are met Build recovery strategy for key equipment failure 6. Organizational Development Evaluate current maintenance talent across facilities Upskill or restructure where necessary Develop training plans for operators & maintenance teams Create engineering documentation standards Required Experience 10+ years in manufacturing engineering or reliability engineering Experience with web handling, coating, lamination, or continuous process lines Experience with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) Experience with drive systems and industrial automation Experience implementing CMMS systems Multi-site manufacturing oversight preferred Strong capex evaluation and ROI modeling capability Experience managing modernization of legacy equipment Preferred Background Continuous process manufacturing (plastics, film, coating, extrusion) Industrial ovens / thermal processing systems Lean manufacturing / TPM experience Reliability Engineering certification (CRE) a plus Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) What Success Looks Like Full enterprise asset audit completed CMMS system implemented across all facilities PM compliance >90% Critical spare parts identified & stocked Clear 5-year capital roadmap approved Measurable reduction in downtime and emergency repairs Leadership Profile This person must be: Structured and systems-oriented Calm under operational pressure Technically deep but financially aware Comfortable challenging legacy practices Able to operate at executive level and plant floor level Compensation Competitive base salary + performance bonus tied to: Downtime reduction Scrap reduction Capex ROI delivery Safety improvements
