Director, Platform Engineering and Tools Blue Shield of CA United States, California, Rancho Cordova Jun 18, 2026 Your Role The Stellarus Commercial team builds the products to power Healthcare Payors through modern technology and AI. The Director of Platform Engineering and Tools will report to the VP, Platform Operations. In this role you will partner closely with our Application, Data, and AI teams to establish a technical foundation that accelerates the delivery of our products. This role is a key aspect of our ability to accelerate the changes needed in healthcare. Your Knowledge and Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS, or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
10 years prior relevant experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or platform
6 years of prior people management experience with direct responsibility for supervising, coaching, and evaluating direct reports
Demonstrated success leading engineering organizations through DevSecOps and cloud transformation, including hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tooling, GitOps workflows, and modern release practices
Strong working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), infrastructure automation, multi-cluster environments with an understanding of multi-tenancy and security
Track record of cross-functional influence, translating technical strategy into business value for non-technical stakeholders and building trusted relationships with senior leadership
Comfort operating in ambiguity, with a bias for action, structured thinking, and the ability to drive alignment across competing priorities
Preferred Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, MIS
Preferred 6 years leading technical teams - including at least 5 years managing multiple concurrent teams across diverse disciplines Hybrid This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week. Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
