Job Description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Portfolio MBSE Engineering Lead to support a classified program developing next‑generation EO/IR systems for air‑to‑space and maritime‑to‑space missions. This role leads model architecture, MBSE tool integration, and automation efforts across a multi‑program portfolio. The ideal candidate is highly experienced in Cameo , capable of building reference models, driving requirements and trade studies, and establishing model‑driven engineering practices as the single source of truth.
Work Environment:
Full‑time, on‑site role in Westminster, CO with a 9/80 schedule , supporting a highly classified, next‑generation defense program focused on advanced sensor and space‑integrated capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of model architecture across a portfolio of programs. Design and maintain MBSE reference architectures supporting multiple production systems. Develop and manage complex system models using Cameo (2022) . Establish and maintain model‑to‑document pipelines to automate generation of program deliverables directly from models. Capture, manage, and trace system requirements within the MBSE environment. Conduct trade studies across existing and emerging system models to support engineering and program decisions. Integrate MBSE tools with requirements management platforms and enterprise engineering workflows. Ensure model accuracy, consistency, and usability as a single source of truth across the organization. Train and mentor engineers on MBSE practices, model interaction, and data entry standards. Collaborate with systems, software, and program leadership to align modeling outputs with mission objectives and delivery requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Extensive experience in Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within defense or aerospace environments. Strong hands‑on experience with Cameo Systems Modeler (2022) . Proven experience designing reference architectures across multi‑program portfolios. Experience integrating MBSE workflows with requirements tools and engineering processes. Strong background in requirements capture, traceability, and system trade studies. Experience developing automated deliverables from model‑based environments. Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Clearance Requirement:
Active Secret clearance required with SAP eligibility .
Preferred:
Experience with Jama or other requirements management tools. Experience supporting EO/IR, space, or multi‑domain defense systems . Familiarity with digital engineering strategies and enterprise MBSE implementation at scale. Experience mentoring or leading teams in model‑based engineering practices.
Compensation:
Pay range: $230,000 - $260,000 (Based on years of relevant experience)
