Job Description

Overview (Contingent) This senior engineering position supports advanced systems engineering and technical integration activities in direct support of Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) at Cape Canaveral. The Engineer IV applies deep technical expertise across the full systems engineering lifecycle to deliver mission-critical defense capabilities. The candidate will lead complex engineering tasks, coordinate with government and contractor teams, and provide authoritative technical guidance on submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) and related strategic weapon system programs. Responsibilities Lead and perform systems engineering tasks across requirements, design, integration, test, and evaluation phases. Support Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) technical planning, analysis, and milestone execution. Develop and review engineering documentation including specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and engineering change proposals (ECPs). Perform technical assessments, trade studies, and risk analyses to inform program decisions. Interface with government program offices, prime contractors, and test range personnel at Cape Canaveral. Coordinate system-level integration and testing activities for strategic weapon systems. Identify, track, and resolve technical issues affecting program schedule, cost, and performance. Author and present technical briefings to senior government and contractor leadership. Mentor mid-level engineers and contribute to team technical development. Support readiness reviews, design reviews, and other formal program milestones. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in defense, aerospace, or a related technical field. Minimum 5 years of systems engineering experience, including direct SSP program support. Active Secret clearance or up to TS/SCI security clearance required at time of hire. Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering processes including requirements management, verification and validation (V&V), interface control documents, and technical baselines. Experience with SLBM, strategic weapon systems, or submarine systems engineering strongly required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to operate effectively in fast-paced program environments. US Citizens Only No Green Card Holders, Visa Holders, or Sponsorships are available. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree at a minimum with a MS or PHD preferred in Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM field. INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent systems engineering certification. Experience with the DoD 5000-series acquisition framework and MIL-STD documentation standards. Familiarity with Cape Canaveral launch range operations and test infrastructure. Knowledge of Navy/SSP lifecycle management processes. Specialized Experience Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Minimum 5 years of direct systems engineering support to SSP, including program planning, technical reviews, and milestone execution.
Engineering / Science
Management 5+ years applying full systems engineering lifecycle methods to complex defense programs, including requirements development, design oversight, integration, and verification. Security Clearance An active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret SCI is required at the time of hire. Candidates must meet clearance eligibility requirements at the time of hire and maintain eligibility for the duration of employment on this program. Interim clearances will not satisfy this requirement. About the Position This is a full-time, on-site position located at Cape Canaveral, FL. All personnel must comply with applicable security protocols, base access requirements, and government site policies in effect at the assigned facility. Some travel may be required to support program activities at other government or contractor facilities. This position is in support of strategic national defense programs and requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and mission focus. Pay:
$150,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
