Engineering ManagerPosition Summary The Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all maintenance, engineering, and facility functions within the operation. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment reliability, facility efficiency, regulatory compliance, utility optimization, preventive maintenance execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Engineering Manager partners closely with operations leadership to support productivity, safety, quality, and cost-control objectives while maintaining a safe and well-maintained working environment. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & Asset Management Lead all facility and equipment maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability. Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment, utilities, and building systems. Oversee maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. Manage equipment lifecycle initiatives, including repairs, upgrades, replacements, and capital improvement projects. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for increased reliability and productivity. Engineering & Projects Plan, coordinate, and oversee engineering projects from concept through completion while adhering to budget and timeline requirements. Evaluate and implement cost-effective equipment modifications and process improvements. Lead cross-functional facility improvement initiatives that support operational excellence and long-term business objectives. Coordinate the work of contractors, consultants, and service providers involved in equipment installation, maintenance, and specialized projects. Leadership & Team Development Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to maintenance supervisors, engineers, and technical personnel. Establish performance goals, development plans, and accountability measures for direct reports. Promote a culture of teamwork, ownership, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Ensure team members receive ongoing training in technical skills, compliance requirements, and safety procedures. Safety & Compliance Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and standards. Lead training and enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), fire prevention, confined space entry, and other workplace safety programs. Participate in and support facility safety committees and risk-reduction initiatives. Maintain compliance with environmental regulations, emissions standards, wastewater requirements, and other governmental requirements. Budgeting & Inventory Control Manage departmental budgets, including labor, maintenance expenditures, repair parts, and operational supplies. Oversee procurement processes for maintenance materials, equipment components, and critical spare parts. Implement inventory control practices to ensure parts availability while maintaining cost efficiency. Establish and maintain productive relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers. Operational Support & Continuous Improvement Partner with operations and plant leadership to ensure maintenance activities align with production goals and customer requirements. Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving asset utilization. Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost savings. Maintain facility appearance, housekeeping standards, and security measures. Perform additional duties and participate in special projects as assigned. QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent industry experience may be considered. Minimum of five years of progressive maintenance or engineering management experience in a manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or production environment. Experience managing large-scale equipment maintenance programs and facility operations preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop employees at all organizational levels. Proven experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, engineering, and senior leadership teams. Knowledge of preventive maintenance methodologies, reliability practices, and continuous improvement principles. Familiarity with industrial equipment, utilities, and facility systems. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus. Technical Proficiency Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and related reporting tools preferred. Ability to analyze operational data and develop actionable improvement plans.
