Job Title:
Lighting Engineer Job Description We are seeking an Entry Level Lighting Engineer to join the Lighting Department, serving the North Florida counties surrounding the Monticello Operations Center. This customer-facing role involves designing lighting solutions and managing work orders from initiation to completion, ensuring seamless customer communication and project execution. Responsibilities Communicate with customers via phone, email, and in-person to discuss lighting requests and project details. Visit customer sites to verify existing conditions and discuss project requirements. Accurately update billing information and input a complete design to advance work orders. Provide customers with lighting proposals, contracts, and handle any necessary Contribution In Aid of Construction (CIAC) costs. Log all customer contacts and communications in the system. Maintain proactive communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare necessary permit packages, including location and outage information, and stake future point locations. Ensure each work order has maintained Target Start and Finish dates throughout its lifecycle. Design economically efficient jobs that minimize the need for as-built true-ups. Essential Skills Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial). Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations. Strong written and oral communication skills. Outstanding customer service skills. Organized with strong data management skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam. Understanding of basic principles of project management. Experience in the electric utility industry with knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems. Ability to use design software packages. Lighting design/engineering experience. Knowledge of systems like Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation. Work Environment This position is based out of the Monticello Operations Center and involves travel to customer locations in Jefferson, Wakulla, and Madison counties. The office environment is positive, with a supportive leader and an engaged team. The workspace is modern, featuring amenities like a foosball table and shuffleboard. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
