, (SGA), is searching for a Storm Protection Plan Engineer for a contract assignment with one of our premier Storm Protection Plan Engineer clients in Tampa, FL.
Responsibilities :
  • Coordinate circuit protection for all SPP distribution programs. Reviewing coordination of each circuit, coordinating identified circuits and adjacent impacted circuits, monitoring ACR performance and implementing circuit corrective action as appropriate; providing fusing analysis and recommendations to the SPP contractor and internal design teams as needed. 30%
  • Serve as lead SME for Fault Location Isolation Service Restoration (FLISR)analysis. Directly oversee contractors assigned to developing FLISR analysis. Review and approve their recommendations to ensure alignment with TEC standards. Develop FLISR device settings and ensure alignment with TEC standards. 10%
  • Review load transfer and phase change request for feasibility. Coordinate requests with System Planning and ADMS to support execution. 10%
  • Provide Distribution Design services for all SPP programs to include Lateral Undergrounding, Feeder Hardening, and Distribution Wood Pole Replacement. 30%
  • Support SPP Design Supervisor contractor oversight by attending weekly design meetings, approving contractor designs ensuring all designs meet NESC and TEC standards, providing design expertise and training to contractors, and approving invoicing. 15%
  • Support internal and external knowledge transfer by creating and maintaining best practices documentation of engineering standards and job aids. 5%
RELATIONSHIPS
    Key Internal:
    Department management, all departments within SPP and various other departments.
      Key External:
      Contractors, engineers, electricians, other utilities, governmental agencies, and various homeowner associations.
      Required Skills:
      • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
      • Florida state driver's license
      • 18 Months direct work experience. Must have experience successfully functioning within the team environment.
      • Must have demonstrated the ability to complete highly technical, complex assignments and designs with minimal direction.
      • Leadership and initiative skills, troubleshooting distribution power systems, Customer service and project management skills, ability to read maps and schematics, computer skills (outage management, work management, financial management, PC, customer information systems, Microsoft Office)

      WORKING CONDITIONS
      Work 40 hours per week with occasional overtime; Indoor and outdoor conditions.
        PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
        50% Sitting, 20% Driving, 30% Standing/Walking, and lifting 20 lbs.
        Preferred Skills:
        • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
        • Professional Engineer License (PE)
        • More than four (4) years of direct work experience.
        • System protection/coordination knowledge, ability to read and interpret system one-lines, distribution design and engineering experience.
