Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Sr. Manager , Mechanical Engineer- Airbreathing Propulsion and Turbomachinery Design for its West Palm Beach, Florida location.
Essential Functions:
- 50%
- Provides technical leadership for the Propulsion Systems Engineering Design group which is critical to L3Harris Development and Production Programs. Advises subordinates in the resolution of technical, programmatic, and operational problems based on specific goals, L3Harris policy, procedures and meeting established schedules.
- 20%
- Develops and implements processes and tools as appropriate for the Propulsion Systems Engineering Design group for continued development, education and training. Participates in Technical Meetings (internal and external) as required to maintain knowledge in this field. Works across the company to ensure consistent application of best practices in performing job responsibilities.

- Manages direct reports working on a variety of project activities. Supports goals of integrated product teams by balancing work-loads and priorities of direct reports and addressing administrative issues pertaining to the accomplishment of tasks. Manages training budgets, conducts performance appraisals, and supports discretionary tasks as required.
- 10%
- Works closely with the Business Development, Program Management., and Engineering Leadership to develop solutions and response to potential customer Propulsion system inquiries and proposal support.
Travel:
10%.- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- 8 years' experience with design of Airbreathing Propulsion System Design and experience in Turbomachinery Design.
- Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership and strong communication skills managing a team of engineers with multiple assignments and priorities.
- 5 years Knowledge of DoD Security Regulation.
- 5 years' EAR/ITAR experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active US Secret Security Clearance on day 1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering (or other related discipline) is preferred.
- Advanced degree desired.
- Understanding of and planning skills for technology development for new propulsion products, including familiarity with performance metrics such as cost, schedule, and variance analysis.
- Experience with CREO and or NX CAD System and Windchill PLM System is desired.
