Job Description

Engineering Manager - Mechanical/MEP | Ames, IA | Onsite | PE Required Join our growing MEP/Mechanical team as an Engineering Manager in Ames, IA! Lead a talented engineering department on high-profile mechanical, HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects. Oversee full-cycle design, mentor staff, and ensure engineering excellence across all projects. This is a hands-on, onsite role ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong MEP/construction experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage engineering staff, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance evaluations Oversee full-cycle mechanical/MEP design: concept detailed engineering construction documents Review and approve engineering work for accuracy and compliance with standards Serve as primary contact for clients, consultants, and vendors Coordinate engineering schedules with project managers for multiple concurrent projects Attend client, design, pre-construction, and post-construction meetings Maintain and improve engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and team workflows Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks for design, modeling, and clash detection
Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Mechanical, Construction, or related Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license required 7+ years in mechanical/MEP/construction engineering 5+ years in a supervisory or management role leading engineering teams Hands-on experience with HVAC, piping, plumbing, and MEP systems Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks Valid driver's license; pass pre-employment drug screening
