Electrical Engineering Manager - Design Burr Ridge, IL | Direct Hire | 1st Shift, Onsite | $130,000-$160,000 (Based on Experience) | Comprehensive Benefits Sterling Engineering is partnering with a rapidly expanding engineering organization to hire an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a talented team developing advanced electrical and electronic security systems. This is a strong opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer ready to step into management, or an experienced Engineering Manager looking for greater technical ownership and strategic influence. You'll serve as the senior technical authority for complex electrical and low-voltage system designs, leading a multidisciplinary engineering team through projects spanning electrical design, systems integration, and mission-critical technologies. Beyond technical leadership, you'll shape engineering strategy and standards, and work directly with executive leadership, customers, and strategic partners — a role built for someone who wants both technical depth and organizational influence. What You'll DoLead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technical professionalsServe as the senior technical authority for complex electrical and low-voltage system designsLead design and review of electrical schematics, system architectures, and technical documentationOversee multiple engineering projects from concept through installation and commissioningPartner with project management and operations to build schedules, resource plans, and milestonesProvide technical leadership during fabrication, installation, startup, testing, and field supportLead design reviews, value engineering initiatives, and root cause investigationsContribute to RFP/RFQ responses, engineering estimates, and staffing plansEnsure compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirementsFoster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvementWhat You BringBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experienceExperience designing low-voltage electrical, security, surveillance, access control, or integrated electronic systemsExperience managing engineering projects within regulated or critical infrastructure environmentsStrong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, and related industry standardsProficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD softwareU.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain or maintain a Security ClearancePrior engineering management experience preferred — strong technical leaders ready to step into their first management role are encouraged to applyNice to HaveProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseExperience supporting Department of Defense, Department of Energy, or other critical infrastructure projectsKnowledge of nuclear facility security requirements and regulatory complianceWhy This RoleSignificant strategic influence over engineering standards, technical direction, and product developmentDirect exposure to executive leadership, customers, and strategic partnersCareer growth within a rapidly expanding engineering organizationMission-critical, high-impact work spanning electrical design, systems integration, and security technologiesDirect hire with a comprehensive benefits package Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
