- Intermediate Planning, you'll help MISO bridge the critical space between long-term transmission planning and real-time operations.
In Your First Year, You'll Know You're Successful If You:
Become a trusted technical partner across Planning, Markets, and Operations for MISO's emerging Intermediate Planning work. Successfully perform and communicate 18-24-month reliability studies supporting large-load integration and Firm Service Step-Up needs. Help strengthen the connection between long-term planning decisions and near-term operational readiness. Improve coordination, data transparency, and process alignment across multiple MISO teams.What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology. At least six (6) years of related power system planning or operations experience. Experience with PSS/E power flow and TARA applications. Strong understanding of power system analysis and transmission reliability concepts. Ability to analyze complex scenarios, identify problems, evaluate data, and develop technically sound recommendations. It Would Be aPlus If You Have:
Experience with DSA tools or other power system analysis software. Experience writing scripts or developing automation to improve engineering or analytical processes. Knowledge of NERC and FERC regulatory and compliance requirements. The appropriate level will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, and qualifications. At MISO, your work helps ensure the reliable operation and continued evolution of one of the world's largest and most complex electric grids. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to help shape how MISO responds to rapidly growing large-load demand while strengthening the connection between where the grid is headed and what it needs to reliably deliver today. The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $127,000- 152,000 USD annually.
