JOB SUMMARY
As the Engineering Manager (Engineered Solutions) you are responsible for project execution, engineering throughput, and operational support. The Engineering Manager must lead a team through changing customer requirements, aggressive production timelines, and complex technical challenges while ensuring designs are accurate, deliverable, and aligned with business objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strategic Partnership:
Collaborate with the Engineered Solutions Product Manager to plan a path to meet and exceed strategic goals for the team, then manage that plan.
Team Scheduling and Negotiation:
Negotiate with Engineered Solution Product Manager to establish weekly schedules for team members, ensuring a balance between company needs and team capacity.
Process Improvement:
Enhance engineering processes to boost productivity and quality outcomes.
Leadership and Mentorship:
Lead, mentor, and coach the team to foster critical thinking and encourage proactive suggestions for improvements. Actively invest in the professional development of team members by providing training, resources, and opportunities for skill enhancement, ensuring they are equipped to excel in their roles and contribute effectively to both ATC and customer satisfaction.
Root Cause Analysis:
Develop and implement a robust root cause and corrective action process, equipping team members to quickly address and resolve engineering issues.
Hands-On Support:
Actively participate as a CAD operator when necessary to help the team achieve its objectives. The job criteria may include other duties, responsibilities and activities, which may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive experience in Engineering in an assembly manufacturing, auto, specialty vehicle, or similar environment preferred
Functional Skills:
Strong detail orientation with excellent researching, planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects. Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization. Excellent math and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the product design and manufacturing areas.
Technology Aptitude/Skills:
SolidWorks 3D modeling or like software experience required. Advanced Microsoft Office experience required along with common data analysis tools, office and software development tools.
Language Skills:
Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills; able to present to groups and train others. Able to effectively communicate complex engineering concepts in simple, effective terms.
Leadership/Behaviors:
Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor a team. Strategic Thinker to proactively anticipate needs and deliver adaptive and sustainable solutions. High-quality minded individual; meticulous with work; safety focused. Able to effectively direct/establish new systems, policies, procedures for a department. Strong collaboration/influencing skills are needed to effectively partner with others, listen to ideas, and implement the best enhancements. Ability to be positive, conceptualize and move forward with projects that are viable and cost effective is also important in this role.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic devices, photocopiers, filing systems/cabinets and fax machines.
- This role also uses CAD software and related products.
- Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen occasionally
- Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow occasionally
- Cognitive and reasoning ability to read, review and interpret work orders or processes on a frequent basis
- Ability to read and respond due to nature of the work on a frequent basis
- Ability to talk and communicate with others via phone, in-person, and/or computer frequently
- Ability to listen to others, problem-solve, and respond frequently
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently
- Lifting up to 30 lbs. sporadically
- The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise.
- The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing areas
- This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling and be exposed to machinery, moving parts, or fumes
