Hiring Agency Tourism, Arts, & Heritage Cabinet | Kentucky Department of Parks Location 500 Mero Street, 5th Floor Frankfort, KY 40601 USA Description Kentucky State Parks is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer to join our Planning and Design team as an Engineer I located in Frankfort, Kentucky. This position would take a leading role in the design, analysis, and delivery of infrastructure and facility projects across Kentucky specifically associated with Kentucky State Parks. This position is ideal for an engineer who brings strong technical judgment, enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and has a diverse level of experience across multiple engineering projects. Candidates for this position are required to be licensed by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Lead engineering reviews and analysis for civil or mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with Kentucky state regulations and applicable national codes. Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documents to support projects. Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments from concept through construction. Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction-phase support to verify design intent and resolve technical issues. Coordinate with architects, contractors, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and clients. Develop technical reports, specifications, and permit documentation The ideal candidate will have: Experience with Kentucky permitting processes (e.g., KYTC, Division of Water, local municipalities). Background in public infrastructure, industrial facilities, or commercial development. Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams. Familiarity with sustainability frameworks or energy modeling tools. The following experience is a plus: Site development, grading, drainage, and stormwater management. Structural design for buildings, bridges, or industrial facilities. Transportation and roadway design. Water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure. Construction administration and field engineering oversight. Mechanical system design for commercial, industrial, or municipal facilities.What we offer:
