Job Description

Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc., is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join the Steel Services Engineering Team. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the order intake process, including quoting, order review and entry, and job setup. Success in this position requires building strong customer relationships, clearly communicating project details, and identifying opportunities to provide added value to customers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and solid mechanical aptitude are essential for this role. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with customers to understand their equipment repair, equipment upgrade, and contract machining project needs. Identify opportunities to add value for customers through innovative solutions to their equipment challenges. Develop comprehensive project price quotes, budgets, and timelines. Review purchase orders upon award and generate accurate sales orders to ensure correct shipments and billing. Create detailed work instructions for the Machine Shop and review scope details with other team members for execution. Maintain clear and timely communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle, providing updates on scope changes and progress. Work with Sales and other internal teams to identify niche customer needs and develop new services.
Desired Program and Tool Familiarity:
Microsoft Office suite (required) Familiarity with modern MRP/ERP systems.
REQUIREMENTS
Technical background is required. An engineering or technical degree is preferred; experience in a related technical field would also qualify. Machine shop or welding experience is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to self-motivate and perform under demanding schedules. Willingness to travel (25% or less). Must be an organized, high-level communicator, keeping the rest of the team and the group informed of timelines and development.
