Wood is recruiting for a Package Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background to join its Operations Americas business focusing on Oil & Gas BU to support the successful delivery of EPC offshore Top-sides projects. This opportunity is onsite in Metairie, LA. #LI-Onsite The Role This position is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and execution of specific project packages, ensuring that engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with project and client requirements. The Package Manager will also play a key role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of the EP contractor, sub-frame contractor, construction contractor, and client, ensuring alignment, effective communication, and seamless execution across all parties. Flexible benefits package that can be adapted to suit your lifestyle Commitment to continued professional development through development plans tailored to individual needs and interests Global connections with leading industry experts around the world who are shaping the standards of our profession Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end delivery of assigned project packages, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives, timelines, and budgets Act as the primary interface between project management, engineering disciplines, vendors, contractors, and key stakeholders (internal and external) Oversee and coordinate execution activities across the EP contractor, sub-frame contractor, construction contractor, and client, ensuring integrated delivery and alignment Drive delivery excellence by maintaining robust control of scope, schedule, cost, and risk within assigned packages Contribute to and implement the Project Execution Plan, Discipline Design Instructions, and contract requisitions Technical & Engineering Leadership Prepare and oversee key technical documentation, including: Basis of Design Scopes of Work (including subcontractor scopes) Multi-discipline engineering deliverables Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs across multiple execution centers Ensure all design and execution activities comply with applicable standards, specifications, and company procedures Provide technical leadership on mechanical engineering scopes and support resolution of complex technical issues Procurement, Interfaces & Execution Oversee package procurement activities, including vendor evaluation, technical bid assessments, and supplier performance management Manage interfaces and technical coordination with third-party contractors and suppliers Lead package reviews, including peer reviews of EPC scopes Project Controls & Performance Implement and manage change control processes, ensuring commercial impacts are understood and controlled Monitor package progress and performance, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies Support construction, commissioning, and handover activities for assigned packages What makes you remarkable? Expected:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering 10+ years of experience in project delivery within energy or heavy industry sectors Demonstrated experience delivering complex topsides packages for offshore platforms or facilities Proven experience in EPC project environments, including peer review of engineering scopes Strong working knowledge of engineering standards, specifications, and project execution processes Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinating across multiple locations Solid understanding of commercial aspects, including contract management and change control Excellent planning, organizational, and execution skills Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at all organizational levels
Desirable:
