About the Role The Director, Distribution Engineering is a senior leadership role that may be based in New Orleans, LA or Houston, TX in and is responsible for technical excellence, operational performance, client engagement, and growth across the East Region distribution engineering portfolio. This role oversees multiple locations and geographically dispersed teams , providing strategic and hands‑on leadership for electric distribution design programs, developing high‑performing engineering leaders, strengthening culture, and expanding relationships with regulated utility clients. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership, Design Oversight & Talent Development Provide senior‑level oversight of electric distribution engineering and design deliverables across multiple utility programs Mentor, coach, and develop engineering managers, technical leads, and senior engineers Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes Build and sustain a leadership culture centered on accountability, safety, technical rigor, and continuous development Client Engagement & Service Delivery Serve as a senior point of contact and trusted advisor for key utility clients Ensure consistent, high‑quality service delivery that supports scalability and long‑term partnerships Oversee contract execution, staffing strategies, scope management, and delivery risk Business Development & Growth Support the pursuit and expansion of new utility clients, programs, and service offerings Partner with senior leadership on regional growth strategies and revenue diversification Contribute technical and operational leadership to proposals, interviews, and client presentations Organizational & Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement efforts across engineering processes, policies, and delivery models Support P&L performance through effective staffing, utilization, and cost management Strengthen business acumen within engineering teams by linking technical decisions to financial outcomes Improve administrative systems, reporting, and governance to support scalable growth Qualifications Electrical Engineering background strongly preferred; candidates with significant relevant distribution engineering experience will be seriously considered Minimum of Bachelors Degree- preferably in Electrical Engineering or related field Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Proven leadership experience within utility distribution engineering, EPC, or consulting environments Demonstrated success leading multi‑office teams and managing utility client relationships Strong understanding of electric distribution systems, regulatory environments, and safety requirements Ability to balance deep technical expertise with strategic, financial, and organizational leadership Excellent communication, executive presence, and relationship‑building skills 12-15 years of progressive experience in electric distribution engineering within utility, EPC, or consulting environments 7+ years of senior leadership experience overseeing managers, senior engineers, and multi‑office or regional teams We do not accept unsolicited resumes or candidate submissions from third-party recruiters or staffing firms.
