Role:
VulcanForms is seeking a Senior Manager, NPI Quality
  • Consumer Technology to lead the New Product Introduction quality framework for its V3 consumer technology program in Devens, MA.
This role serves as the technical and operational authority for advancing products from process development through serial production. The Senior Manager will combine engineering leadership with direct shop-floor execution, overseeing inspection protocol development, metrology and metallurgical validation, real-time defect resolution, corrective and preventive actions, and First Article Inspection releases. The role will also serve as a primary technical quality interface for strategic consumer electronics customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Govern and execute integrated NPI quality plans from early process development through full-scale production
  • Systematically advance Manufacturing Readiness Levels for the V3 Consumer Electronics program
  • Define, calibrate, and validate advanced metrology protocols, including CMM, structured light, and CT scanning
  • Establish and validate metallurgical testing standards, including tensile, density, and microstructural evaluations
  • Lead shop-floor root-cause investigations involving geometric distortion, machining variation, and post-processing non-conformances
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions using advanced data analytics and 8D methodologies
  • Serve as the primary technical quality authority for strategic consumer electronics customers
  • Lead technical customer reviews and execute First Article Inspections in accordance with
FAI/AS9102
requirements
  • Lead Material Review Board evaluations and disposition non-conformances in real time
  • Establish Statistical Process Control frameworks, Cpk analysis, and sensor-driven process verification
  • Partner with Process Engineering, machining, EDM, and surface-finishing teams to implement Design for Quality principles and GD&T controls
  • Lead and mentor NPI Quality Engineers and Technicians
  • Establish standard operating procedures, quality standards, and operator inspection training
  • Direct supplier quality activities, including on-site qualification audits and raw material and post-processing supplier verification
  • Support continuous improvement, production yield, and customer quality objectives
Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of progressive quality engineering and technical leadership experience in advanced, high-consequence precision manufacturing
  • Demonstrated success scaling NPI programs into production environments
  • Strong floor-facing experience working directly with engineering teams, operators, and manufacturing equipment
  • Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field; Master?s degree preferred
  • Equivalent practical industry experience may be considered
  • Advanced knowledge of GD&T, CMM and optical metrology, metallurgical evaluation, tolerance stack-up analysis, and SPC/Cpk analysis
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISO 9001 or
IATF 16949
