Senior Engineering Manager - Aerospace Greater Boston / Wilmington, MA Area | Full-time, onsite | Aerospace & Defense $160,000- $190,000 (DOE) + 10% Bonus Can you lead a product engineering team and still get your hands into the technical detail when it matters? Our client is a market-leading aerospace and defense manufacturer of electromechanical sensing and fluid systems for commercial and military aircraft. They are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a Product Engineering team with end-to-end responsibility for their Electric and Fluid Systems product lines, managing the full product lifecycle from concept through production and sustainment. This is a senior leadership role that still values technical judgement. You will drive innovation across new product development and R&D, ensure robust support of the installed base through sustaining engineering and VAVE, and build the organisational capability, processes and technologies that let the team scale. You will balance team leadership with genuine hands-on technical oversight across multiple programs and customer engagements. The Role Lead and develop the Product Engineering organisation, aligning it to strategic objectives and growth priorities Provide end-to-end engineering leadership across the product lifecycle, new product development, advanced development and sustaining engineering, ensuring high-quality, reliable, manufacturable solutions Drive design, development and continuous improvement of electromechanical products, focused on innovation, differentiation and competitiveness Ensure disciplined design controls, configuration management and product reliability practices that comply with the QMS Build, develop and coach the team, fostering technical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement Champion the adoption of new technologies, tools and methodologies for scalable engineering execution Partner with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions, ensuring strong technical engagement and long-term relationships Balance hands-on engineering involvement with effective team management, leading multiple programs and customer engagements About You BS and/or MS in Mechanical or a related engineering discipline 3+ years leading engineering teams in a product development environment, including performance management, talent development and team building 5+ years' design and development experience in electromechanical, fluid or electrical systems Proven ownership of products from concept through production and sustainment A track record managing engineering project portfolios and workstreams Experience operating in regulated industries, with familiarity with FAA certification Expert with design and analysis tools for data-driven development and problem solving An effective communicator who can engage technical teams, senior stakeholders and customers What is on Offer $160,000-$190,000 base, dependent on experience 10% bonus potential A senior leadership seat on the engineering leadership team of a market-leading aerospace business End-to-end ownership of established, mission-critical product lines The chance to build organisational capability and shape how the engineering function scales US Citizenship required.
