Job Description

Infrastructure Designer Responsibilities
  • Assess existing PDS conduit pathways and make determinations to ensure they are compliant with current DoD requirements.
  • Assess, identify, and collect IT infrastructure requirements (pathways, spaces, cable, power, cooling, etc...) to support existing and new PDS installation requests.
  • Prepare floor plans, rack elevations, installation specifications, statement of work, budgetary cost estimates, schedules, and other design documents.
  • Present and review designs with the team and your customers.
  • Work with our Contracts, Plant Facilities, and onsite installation partners to implement your designs.
  • Conduct pre-construction design reviews, quality control checks, and post-construction code compliance inspections.
  • Coordinate the construction and implementation of telecommunications and technology systems that support our unclassified and classified network environments.
  • Coordinate site surveys, schedules, security escorts, and inspections with our customers and operation partners.
  • Collaborate with internal design team to identify projects to improve our infrastructure and services.
  • Periodically coordinate and assist internal IT teams and staff with day-to-day operations as assigned or needed to complete projects you are directly leading. Qualifications
  • A Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) ed Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
  • Minimum of five years' experience designing, planning, implementing, and maintaining high-speed network cabling systems and IT facilities.
  • Have 1-2 years of experience with Department of Defense (DoD) standards pertaining to the design and installation of IT infrastructure to support Protected Distribution Systems (PDS)
  • Are knowledgeable in telecommunications/electrical/fire codes, and industry standards (ANSI/EIA/TIA, CNSSI, IEEE, NEC/NFPA, OSHA, and BICSI standards and guidelines).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proficient with a computer-aided design / drawing package such as AutoCAD, Visio, Revit, or Geographical Information System (GIS).
  • Able to identify and convey Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Physical
  • Can provide sample documentation of a past design project that you personally led during the interview.
  • Are a highly motivated self-starter with good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Are able to coordinate multiple projects and set priorities in order to meet schedules.
  • Have great interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work with all levels of staff using tact and diplomacy.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of working effectively both independently and in team environments
  • Are willing to work the occasional weekend and/or after hours as required to meet critical project/work-related business needs
  • Capable of lifting 50-75lbs.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Can support occasional travel to support remote field offices Special Skills (if applicable)
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs, move equipment, rack and un-rack host/servers and network hardware. Education / Certifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Construction Management, Civil / Electrical / Telecommunications Engineering, or other IT related field
  • AutoDesk certified in AutoCAD or Revit Work Authorization
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain Secret level security clearance
