Job Description

Senior Composites Engineer Livonia, MI (Onsite) Summary We're hiring a Senior Composites Engineer to support advanced composite programs from concept through production. This role blends hands-on composites engineering, program management, and customer-facing responsibilities—ideal for someone who enjoys owning projects end-to-end while mentoring junior engineers. You'll work closely with design, production, and customers to deliver high-quality composite solutions across multiple programs. What You'll Be Doing Lead multiple composite programs from concept through delivery Develop manufacturing processes, tooling plans, and work instructions Partner with design teams to define production-ready composite specs Support quoting, estimating, and cost analysis for new programs Manage budgets, timelines, materials, and labor planning Act as customer liaison—handling scope changes, updates, and milestones Oversee day-to-day build operations and ensure quality standards Drive continuous improvement (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma) initiatives Mentor and support junior composite engineers Must-Haves Bachelor's degree in Engineering 4+ years of composites engineering experience Experience supporting composite manufacturing (process, tooling, production) Strong Excel skills (tracking, reporting, program data) Experience with CAD tools (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, etc.) Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously Strong communication skills (customer-facing) Nice to Have Automotive or aerospace composites experience Knowledge of
AS9100 / QMS
/ quality systems Experience with
FEA / CAE
tools PMP or project/program management experience Exposure to mechanical testing of composites U.S. Citizenship (ITAR environments)
