Job SummaryThe Engineering Director is responsible for leading multiple engineering teams in the development and delivery of automotive products and technologies. This role provides strategic, technical, and operational leadership across the product development lifecycle, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance with automotive standards, and successful execution of business objectives.

The Engineering Director drives innovation, manages organizational capability, and collaborates closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Program Management, Supply Chain, and customers to deliver high-quality automotive solutions on time and within budget.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipDefine and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business goals and product roadmap.

Lead the development of next-generation automotive products, systems, and technologies.

Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of industry best practices.

Support organizational growth through capability development and technology planning.

Engineering ManagementLead and develop managers, technical leaders, and engineering teams across multiple disciplines.

Establish clear objectives, performance expectations, and development plans.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.

Build organizational capability through succession planning and talent development.

Product DevelopmentOversee the complete product development lifecycle from concept through production launch and sustaining engineering.

Ensure engineering deliverables meet performance, quality, cost, timing, and regulatory requirements.

Drive resolution of complex technical issues and critical customer concerns.

Ensure successful execution of engineering projects and program milestones.

Automotive Compliance & QualityEnsure compliance with applicable automotive standards and customer requirements, including:

ASPICEISO 26262

Functional SafetyIATF 16949Cybersecurity standards (ISO/SAE 21434)Regulatory and homologation requirementsSupport quality initiatives and root cause analysis for field and manufacturing issues.

Champion engineering quality and risk management processes.

Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Program Management to achieve program objectives.

Collaborate with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure successful product industrialization.

Work with customers to understand requirements and support business development activities.

Support commercial discussions, quotations, and technical proposals.

Financial & Operational ManagementManage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and workforce planning.

Monitor project performance, engineering metrics, and organizational effectiveness.

Ensure efficient utilization of engineering resources.

Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and business risks.

QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering, or related field).Master's degree preferred.

MBA is an advantage.

Experience12+ years of progressive engineering experience within the automotive industry.5+ years in senior engineering leadership roles.

Proven track record leading large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations.

Experience delivering automotive products from concept through production launch.

Experience working with global teams and customers.

Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of automotive product development processes.

Knowledge of systems, hardware, software, or vehicle engineering.

Familiarity with

ASPICE, ISO 26262, IATF

16949, and automotive cybersecurity requirements.

Understanding of project management methodologies and product lifecycle management principles.
