About Us:
A leading U.S. manufacturer of melt filtration equipment and auxiliary systems for the plastics extrusion industry. We are known for our high-quality, made-to-order machinery and responsive customer support. We're seeking a driven individual to lead both our engineering and manufacturing functions, supporting innovation, quality, and operational efficiency.
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing & Engineering Manager will oversee daily operations of engineering and production while ensuring the successful design and delivery of custom capital equipment. This position includes managing project engineers, coordinating workflow on the shop floor, overseeing procurement, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering:
Supervise and mentor a small team of project engineers Oversee the design and execution of custom polymer processing systems Review and approve engineering drawings and project documentation Lead project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and service departments to align on customer specs and delivery timelines Drive continuous improvement and technology integration
Operations:
Plan and oversee manufacturing workflows and personnel Ensure on-time production and shipping targets are met Manage safety programs and OSHA compliance Oversee purchasing strategies and vendor performance Coordinate capital improvement projects and facility planning Lead performance reviews and employee development across departments
Qualifications:
Experience in both engineering and manufacturing environments Prior leadership or supervisory experience Understanding of mechanical design and production processes Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation Familiarity with CAD tools (Autodesk Inventor preferred) Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to travel occasionally (including international)
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Experience in the plastics, machinery, or capital equipment industry Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial control systems Knowledge of electrical schematics, panel design, VFDs, sensors, and machine automation Familiarity with system integration and controls related to custom machinery and process equipment
