What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Research Tec 4 or 5 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. As part of the Material Management Team of the Actinide Analytical Chemistry (C-AAC) group, the successful candidate will work on a small team that performs nuclear material handling, disposition, and movement. These efforts are part of the Laboratory's ongoing mission of moving operations out of the CMR facility, and executing activities needed for efficient material movement between three nuclear facilities. The primary job duties will include working with the team on materials disposition, coordinating sample transfers between facilities, coordinating maintenance activities, and disposition of nuclear and non-nuclear material. This will require Fissile Material Handler (FMH) qualification training and testing and Glovebox Operator certification. The successful technician will work in hoods and glove boxes and may utilize cranes for critical and noncritical lifts, drive forklifts, and use various types of tools. Other job duties will include Material Balance Area (MBA) custodian/alternate, Tamper Indicating Device (TID) custodian/alternate custodian and rigging custodian. In addition, the successful candidate will regularly work in a respirator and wear required anti-C PPE. Additional responsibilities include communication and teamwork with support organizations including rad protection, waste services, and security and safeguards. Research Technician 4 ($72,800- $115,400)
- Work with heavy machinery and various tools to manipulate and move nuclear material.

- $143,000) In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level the Research Technician operates with a greater level of independence and mentors technicians at lower levels.
