Videos Duties Help The position provides engineering support to the assigned healthcare system and is responsible for maintaining construction specificions and drawings, maintaining technical reference library of codes, standards, and other regulions which are applicable to the engineering construction industries Occupional Safety and Health Administrion (OSHA), Nional Fire Protection Associion (NFPA), American Nional Standards Institute (ANSI), and others. The position serves as a healthcare engineering advisor, engineer consultant, engineer designer, contract administror, project manager, construction coordinor, and instructor during the design and construction of all projects assigned. The position is responsible for providing healthcare engineering support to all assigned projects.

Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties:

Performs Healthcare Planning/Design Management

• The position determines the requirements for healthcare projects in relion to the needs of the Healthcare System, inclusive of the parent site, as well as off-site locions under the auspice of the Healthcare System, whether VA owned or leased. Manages Healthcare Design and Construction Administrion
• The position uses independent seasoned engineering judgment in evaluing and performing scheduling and layout of operions, inspection, and surveillance of merials, methods, and equipment used in construction. Performs Healthcare Construction Management and Post Project Activities
• The position provides direction and guidance to the contractor for construction within the facility. Medical Infrastructure Planning
• The position assists on the medical center construction projects, space functional changes, and associed planning with respect to medical technologies and medical-reled technologies. Including site preparions for medical equipment, stion level projects, non-recurring maintenance projects, and minor construction project designs. Regulory Agencies

Designing and analyzing of interior lighting and power distribution Developing and overseeing of overhead and underground electrical distribution upgrades Designing and coordining of emergency and standby generor installions, including critical facility requirements. Design and evaluion of fire alarms, mass notificion, intrusion detection, and security systems. Support for commissioning, testing, inspection, and acceptance of electrical systems and equipment. Design, evaluion, and construction oversight of HVAC and refrigerion systems for clinical and non-clinical spaces. Energy analysis and life-cycle cost evaluions of mechanical systems and equipment. Design and rehabilition of mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, and air-handling units. Integrion of building automion, utility monitoring, and energy management control systems. Analysis of systems performance and troubleshooting issues affecting comfort, safety, or reliability.
