About Dainty Foods USA Dainty Foods, a trusted Canadian food manufacturer with over a century of expertise, is expanding into the United States with a new production facility in Batavia, Ohio. The Engineering Manager will help transition the facility from project execution through start-up and establish the systems required for sustainable capital and equipment performance. Position Summary Reporting to the General Manager - USA Operations, the Engineering Manager will support the Project Engineer during site design, construction, commissioning, validation, start-up, and formal project hand-off. The role will coordinate site readiness, technical acceptance, documentation, and cross-functional participation. Following hand-off, the Engineering Manager will own the site CAPEX process, commissioning and validation standards, the Early Equipment Management framework, and the engineering stewardship of site facilities and utility equipment.. Duties Develop and manage the site capital plan and annual CAPEX portfolio aligned with safety, food safety, capacity, reliability, cost, and business priorities. Lead capital projects from hand-off through design, procurement, installation, commissioning, validation, start-up, and closeout, managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, contractors, and benefits. Own commissioning, qualification, validation, and start-up readiness, coordinating FAT/SAT, testing, punch-list closure, training, turnover, and production acceptance. Establish site standards for commissioning, validation, acceptance criteria, turnover packages, and project closeout; ensure projects meet safety, quality, throughput, reliability, sanitation, and utility requirements. Develop and implement the Early Equipment Management (EEM) governance model, integrating cross-functional reviews, tollgates, specifications, supplier engagement, and lessons learned into capital projects. Own engineering performance and lifecycle planning for site facilities and utilities, including electrical, steam/boilers, compressed air, HVAC, water/wastewater, refrigeration, fire protection, and building systems. Develop utility capacity plans, equipment standards, operating requirements, technical documentation, inspection programs, and asset renewal/replacement strategies. Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Quality, EHS, Sanitation, IT/OT, and external providers to improve reliability, energy efficiency, compliance, maintainability, and business continuity. Own site engineering standards, design specifications, technical documentation, and management-of-change requirements following project hand-off. Ensure new equipment and facility modifications comply with GMP, food safety, sanitary design, OSHA, NFPA, electrical, building, environmental, and company standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical and project leadership experience. 7+ years of progressive capital project, commissioning, validation, engineering, or technical leadership experience in food, beverage, CPG, pharmaceutical, or another regulated manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience delivering capital projects from concept through operational hand-off, including scope, budget, schedule, contractors, commissioning, and validation. Strong knowledge of manufacturing equipment, automation, facility infrastructure, utility systems, sanitary design, project controls, and cross-functional start-up execution.
